Episode 1

When Season 4 of Game of Thrones premiered and we saw our city Split in it, we knew it was a great start of interesting!

For every episode this season, we’ll post screenshots from the scenes filmed in and around Split. You can visit most of these filming locations in person by taking our highly rated Game of Thrones tour.

Now let’s dig in…

In the first episode called “Two Swords”, Daenarys, along with her trusted team and Unsullied Army, march towards Meereen fresh off their victory in Yunkai.

During a break from their journey, Daenarys spends some quality time with her dragons. These scenes were filmed on Biokovo mountain above Baška Voda, near Split, Croatia.

As they continue their ride along the coastal road, they discover a slave child nailed to a cross pointing the way to Meereen.

Daenarys is outraged at both the slavery and cruel treatment of a child. Determined to right this wrong, she is determined to ride for Meereen to teach them a lesson.

And off we they go to Meereen! This means war.

These scenes were shot on the real-life hiking trails on mountains Mosor and Biokovo just next to Split.
