The tour visits 4 different filming locations in and around Split, Croatia.
First, you’ll take a walking tour of the 1700-year-old Diocletian’s Palace in the heart of Split’s old town. You’ll wander the streets that became Meereen, substructures of the palace and dungeons of Daenerys’s dragons.
Next, you’ll take an air conditioned transfer to the mountain village of Klis, about 20 minutes outside Split. In this tiny village lies Klis Fortress, which stands tall on the end of a rocky cliff offering the absolute best view of Split, the Adriatic Sea and neighboring islands. Your guide will take you on a walking tour of the fortress, during which he’ll tell you about the Game of Thrones scenes that were filmed here as well as some of the local Croatian history.
After some 20 minutes of driving you will reach Žrnovnica village with an abandoned quarry which portaired the in front of the walls of Meereen. That is the area where Daenerys talked to slaves on the walls and catapulted chains of former slaves she freed in Yunkai and Astapor.
Finally, you’ll visit a 600-year-old stone watermill on the Žrnovnica River that still mills flour to this day. This watermill and the Žrnovnica River that runs along side of it were the setting of several scenes from Game of Thrones as well.
Here, you’ll enjoy a traditional Croatian barbecue feast (usually veal Peka or grilled fish) with homemade bread from the mill and local wine. We can accommodate most diet restrictions, which you can provide during the booking process.
The tour is approximately 6 hours long. Your guide can drop you off at your accommodation within Split after the tour.

All bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance, in order to make arrangements for your meal at the water mill. However, we will always do everything we can to accommodate last minute bookings. Contact us to inquire about same day bookings.

Diocletian’s Palace is the heart of the city of Split. It is an ancient vacation villa built by a Roman emperor Diocletian 1700 years ago and still is the center of the social life in Split.
On an approximately hour and a half walk on the filming locations in the palace, you will walk its narrow streets and visit its substructures, the underground areas practically purposed for life needs by Diocletian’s engineers, today protected under UNESCO.
Main gates of Meereen, famous ”Kill the Masters” scene, dungeons where Daenerys kept her two dragons, shocking murder of Ser Barristan Selmy, streets of Meereen… you will see it all on this walk!
Klis fortress has played a crucial role in defending the territory of Split for centuries. It is placed on a strategical point on a hill above Split, with a view over the city, the islands as well as the inland.
Walking its sections listen about its brutal history and a harsh life of the soldiers who built it and protected the area of Split. The fortress starred as the city of Meereen, its external parts and terraces of the Throne room.
This abandoned quarry in Žrnovnica village is a stop to show you how it served as the entrance to Meereen. It is the area where Daeneys approached Meereen, threw the chains on the walls of the city and where Daario Naharis fought Meereenese champion.
The private property with a still working medieval watermill was a setting to film a bathing scene with Missandei and Grey Worm.
Sitting next to Žrnovnica river where the filming took place, you will relax after a walking part of the tour and enjoy our local cuisine – a shot of rakija as a welcome drink, traditional Peka meal (or other meal depending on your diet restriction), seasonal salad, freshly baked bread and local wine.
